day 2

SAGRADA FAMILIA TOUR WITH TOWER ACCESS: The breath-taking, modernist church of La Sagrada Família is one of Spain's most visited attractions. Admire Gaudí's unfinished masterpiece at the heart of Barcelona from all angles, and climb to the top of one of the basilica's 8 sky-scraping towers—they're the highest vantage points for looking out over the city. Your tour of this UNESCO World Heritage Site begins in the nave. Enjoy fast-track access that lets you skip the long lines and head directly inside, where you can crane your neck to take in the organic shapes, tree-like pillars, and speckled light that trickles through stained glass windows to give the impression of standing in a surreal, holy forest. Admire the ornate carvings that adorn the church's facades, note the Gothic inspiration which fuelled Gaudí's eccentric, Art Nouveau designs, and find out how modern artists are helping to make his dreams a reality. Learn about the ambitious plans for completing the basilica by 2026, and discover more about Gaudí, his architecture and his life as you tour the church's museum. Then, part ways with your guide and consider climbing to the top of either the Passion or Nativity tower for sweeping views over Barcelona's sea of terracotta roofs. Tour starts from a centrally located meeting point. Tour duration: 2 hours approx.

day 3

MONTSERRAT MONASTERY HALF DAY TOUR: Nestled high on a craggy peak in the Catalonian countryside, majestic Montserrat has drawn pious pilgrims to its remote Royal Basilica for ages. Pay a visit to this striking spiritual site to see its 12th-century Black Virgin sculpture, hear the stirring vocals of the Escalonia children's choir, and stroll hilltop trails for panoramic views. Settle into a comfortable seat on an air-conditioned coach in Barcelona and set off out of the city. Sit back and admire the picturesque villages that dot the countryside of Catalonia on your way towards the jagged, serrated peaks of Montserrat. Rising 4,051 feet (1,235 metre) from the ground, this rugged mountain was carved by wind and rain into wild shapes. Start with a visit to the Royal Basilica, famous for its 12th-century Verge Moreneta, or Black Madonna—the patron saint of Catalonia. Learn about this cherished pilgrimage site, where Catholics from all over Europe have journeyed to worship since the year 1025. Spend some free time on your own at the audiovisual exhibit to learn more about the history and creation of Montserrat, and then sample a few typical liqueurs made by the Benedictine monks of the monastery. If you're lucky, you might catch a performance by the Escolania, one of the oldest boys choirs of Europe, before beginning the drive back to Barcelona. Tour starts from a centrally located meeting point. Tour duration: 4.5 hours approx.

PATIO SEVILLANO FLAMENCO SHOW: Feel the passion of flamenco with a pulsating show at the world-famous El Patio Sevillano. The powerful dance and song genre that has captured the hearts of the world has its roots in Andalusia where it is a badge of national pride. The show at El Patio Sevillano runs for 90 minutes without interruption. You will hear songs that veer from the mournful to the powerful, be enthralled by the beautiful sound of an authentic Spanish guitar and be mesmerised by flamboyant dresses and seductive moves of the dancers. Flamenco is not just a monolithic genre; there are many forms representing different moods. Some involve dance, others song. You will hear Alegrias, Tientos, Rondeñas, Fandangos and more as well as classical Spanish music and a small representation of the opera Carmen, which is set in Seville. Be prepared for a dramatic finale, where the entire cast will come together to perform breathless Sevillanas and bulerias, both fast and upbeat styles.
